Opportunity Description:

The Disaster Training Intern will work with the Director of Disaster Training to build new courses as well as refine existing courses. The intern will also assist in implementation and evaluation of these programs.


Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development of new and existing disaster training programs
  • Participates in the implementation of training programs.
  • Assists in the evaluation of disaster training programs, including collecting data from instructors, training materials, student feedback and other measurement tools

Semester: Summer 2010
Time Commitment: 35 hours per week
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
  • 4th Year Undergraduate or Graduate Student with basic instructional FEMA courses preferred
Training:
  • Volunteer Orientation / Fulfilling Our Mission (4 hours)
  • Shelter Operations (3 hours)
  • Shelter Simulation (4 hours)
  • Mass Care (3 hours)
  • Fundamentals of Instruction and Facilitation (3 hours)
  • Disaster Instructor Specialty Training (16 hours)
