Opportunity Description:

The Drills & Exercises Intern will work with the Director of Disaster Training & Exercises to assist with the planning and development of Chapter drills and exercises. The intern will also assist in identifying where program improvements can be made as well as assist with the compiling of data for the monthly reporting process.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and implementation of exercises, from seminars to full-scale exercises that support Disaster Planning & Response goals
  • Assist in coordinating meetings and projects with Chapter, regional and NESA personnel
  • Assist in compiling statistics and exercise data to identify trends and shortfalls
  • Provide administrative assistance to the operation of the Disaster & Drills program

Semester: Summer 2010
Time Commitment: 35 hours per week
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • 4th Year Undergraduate or Graduate Student with basic Exercise Design FEMA courses preferred
Training:
  • Volunteer Orientation / Fulfilling Our Mission (4 hours)
  • Shelter Operations (3 hours)
  • Shelter Simulation (4 hours)
  • Mass Care (3 hours)
  • Exercise Controller Training (2 hours)
  • Exercise Evaluator Training (2 hours)
