This morning New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver invited NY Red Cross CEO Theresa Bischoff to a press conference in Manhattan to announce the re-occupation of 22 James Street, an apartment building in Chinatown that was destroyed in a 5-alarm fire on February 24, 2009. As a result of that fire, more than 200 people were left homeless and there was one fatality. It has been two months since Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, and the American Red Cross today issued a two-month progress report regarding its on-going relief operation in this country.
