Opportunity Description:

The Ready Rating program is an online survey offered at no cost to businesses in the Greater New York Area.  A major publicity campaign is proposed to bring new businesses to the program. The Ready Rating Intern will assist in outreach efforts to increase safety and preparedness at businesses in the Greater NY area. The internship involves assisting the Ready Rating staff by managing the participants in the program and acting as the key contact person at the American Red Cross for parties interested in the program.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the program from its current fledgling stage to a fully functioning, stand-alone process that assists members in preparing for and responding to emergencies at their place of business
  • Manage the daily progress of members throughout the full lifecycle of the program via our online tracking portal
  • Assist businesses in gathering information about possible emergencies that may impact its capability to respond to and recover from a disaster or emergency
  • Work with current members to make sure members complete our online survey assessing their current emergency preparedness status
  • Assist with connecting participants to training opportunities and work to raise participant’s Ready Rating score
  • Help businesses develop an emergency response plan that will describe the steps they will take to protect their business and employees during an emergency
  • Collaborate with Marketing Department to promote Ready Rating Program through promotional material, blog, twitter, etc
  • Coordinate distribution of awards and certificates to all participating members for the current year

Semester:Fall 2010
Time Commitment:2 – 3 days per week, a minimum of 3 hours per day
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-starter, willingness to develop the program from current early state to a full-fledged program
  • Business/business casual attire required
Training:
  • Volunteer Orientation and Fulfilling Our Mission (4 hours)
  • CPR/First Aid Training (8 hours)
  • Extensive training with Management to learn basics of Corporate Preparedness Products and Ready Rating Program
