Services

For over 100 years the American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) has provided the basic needs—food, clothing, shelter, emotional support—to New Yorkers whose lives have been disrupted by emergencies. These services are core to ARC/GNY’s mission of helping the more than nine million people who live in New York City and Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Sullivan counties prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

With a small corps of employees and thousands of volunteers, the American Red Cross in Greater New York responds to an average of 8 emergencies each day, including fires, floods, building collapses and power outages. ARC/GNY also helps New York residents and businesses prepare for emergencies by offering hundreds of lifesaving courses and emergency-preparedness training programs and resources.

American Red Cross in Greater New York volunteers can make a lasting impact on the lives of their friends and neighbors through the Red Cross’s lifesaving and life-changing work. That work includes disaster response, preparedness programs, lifesaving skills training, connecting US service members and their families, locating and connecting families separated by conflict or natural disaster, and participating in the Red Cross blood donation program.

The American Red Cross in Greater New York is a charitable organization, not a government agency, and relies on donations to fund its free humanitarian services. For more information about how you can help, call 1-877-RED CROSS (1-877-733-2767) or click here to learn more.
