Staff Relations Intern

Opportunity Description:

The intern will work with Staff Relations staff members on on-boarding, compliance, and reward and recognition programs. All applicants must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism and deliver results in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Responsibilities
  • Update and integrate employee and volunteer handbooks
  • Assist with development and facilitation of People Manager workshops
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of the annual volunteer recognition event
  • Prepare for and conduct staff orientations
  • Conduct research and perform analysis on PRU programs. Streamline processes and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in year-end performance review process (training, tracking and collection of review, etc.)
  • Update information in our staff management system (My Red Cross)
  • Provide administrative assistance to the People Resources Department where needed
  • Attend People Resources meetings

Semester: Summer 2010
Time Commitment: 3 days per week
Qualifications:
  • Interest in human resources and/or volunteer management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet research
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to assist with People Resources events
  • Team player with the ability to work independently; self starter.
