1. How old do I need to be to join the Youth Group?
All youth group members must be between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. |

2. What kinds of activities can I participate in as a Youth Group Member?
Youth group members participate in a variety of activities in all departments at ARC/GNY. Activities include, being trained as a lifesaving skills Instructor Aide and eventually becoming a certified lifesaving skills instructor at age 16, being trained to teach the Prepare NY course and vital disaster preparedness programs to children, providing tutoring to children at two homeless shelter locations that partner with ARC/GNY, assisting at local emergencies and disasters, helping with our annual fundraising events - the Book & Toy Drive and the Spring Event, recruiting and training new members of the Manhattan Youth Group and providing administrative support to all departments of ARC/GNY. |

3. Can I volunteer on the weekends?
Yes! Although a lot of our opportunities are after school, we have plenty of opportunities on the weekends including participating in our Annual Book & Toy Drive, taking part in charity walks, and also assisting with special Logistics Projects with Disaster Planning and Response. |

4. How can I join the youth group?
Step 1 Complete and submit online application and register for an upcoming Youth Orientation Session
Step 2 Print, fill out and make sure your parent or guardian reads and signs the Parent/Guardian Consent Form
Step 3 Read, print and sign the Policy Consent Form
Step 4 Bring all printed and signed forms and a picture ID to your scheduled orientation session
Step 5 Complete orientation, choose a service area and complete the interview
Step 6 Start your volunteer service with the ARC/GNY Youth Group! |

5. How much time do I need to volunteer?
ARC/GNY Manhattan Youth Group asks that you attend the monthly meetings and participate in at least one activity per month. Other than those guidelines, the time that you contribute all depends upon you. There are always many volunteer opportunities to take advantage of. You choose your level of involvement depending on your present time commitments.
