Notable Activities in 2007:
Park Hill Circle Fire
After a 1-alarm fire at a 6-story apartment building at Park Hill Circle on August 20 damaged apartments on the fourth floor, Red Cross relief workers provided aid and comfort to 4 adults and 7 children. Red Cross also arranged for temporary housing for one family of 1 adult and 3 children.
Four adults and five children received Red Cross assistance, including food, beverages and a clothing stipend to replace lost garments after a 1-alarm fire at 31 Steuben Street.
In 2006 in Staten Island, the chapter:
- Responded to 114 fires and other emergencies
- Assisted 332 adults and children with food, shelter and/or counseling following a disaster
Notable Activities in 2006:
On Sunday, August 13, after one-alarm fire broke out at 44 Holland Avenue at 3:08 pm, two Red Cross volunteers offered water, hot meals and comfort to 8 adults and 2 children affected by the blaze.
On Monday, March 13, two Red Cross responders assisted 5 families (8 adults and 4 children) at 220 Osgood Avenue when a 2-alarm fire broke out at 2:16pm. Four of the families (7 adults and 3 children) were provided with temporary housing.
On Saturday, February 11, at 2:13 am, a 2-alarm fire at 58 Bache Street affecting four dwellings. Red Cross assisted five adults, providing one adult and one child with temporary shelter.
On Tuesday, February 28, Red Cross assisted 12 adults and 3 children at a fire that broke out at 8:20 am at 32 St. Johns Street.
In 2005 in Staten Island, the chapter:
- Responded to 140 fires and other emergencies
- Assisted 395 adults and children with food, shelter and/or counseling following a disaster
