The Greater New York, Westchester and Greenwich Red Cross Chapters have come together to form the Metro New York Chapter of the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders as of July, 2008.
The Tiffany Circle Society of the National America Red Cross is comprised of women leaders and philanthropists. By investing $10,000 annually in their local American Red Cross chapters, these women follow in the footsteps of a long line of women leaders who have helped the Red Cross serve the American public in times of war and peace with disaster assistance, blood collection, safety training and countless other community assistance services.
The society is named for the stained glass Tiffany windows depicting scenes of the American Red Cross in the Board of Governors Hall at Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C. These windows, produced by the Tiffany Studios, were commissioned by Red Cross President Mabel Boardman in 1917. Two organizations of Civil War women, the Woman's Relief Corps of the North and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, each contributed $5,000 to create the windows, and the building was dedicated "In Memory of the Heroic Women of the Civil War."
Tiffany Circle members are a powerful network of women who see the results of their investments through the humanitarian work of their Chapter. They demonstrate their compassion for others through Red Cross volunteer work … build relationships with other community leaders … and inspire future generations to give their time, talent and resources to ensure the Red Cross has the ability to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
