| Responsibilities: |
The American Red Cross of Greater New York Marketing, Communications and Media Relations Department is seeking an Intern. The incumbent will support the various marketing and communications projects in the department, including but not limited to writing news releases/news stories/feature stories, research, developing story ideas to pitch to media, preparing reports and maintaining media contact lists, providing support for events and other projects. The department operates similar to any corporate communications unit and serves ARC/GNY as an in-house communications agency. The communications intern will be engaged in work relevant to their career path, as well as several new experiences in the marketing and communications field. The communications intern will oversee designated assignments (short and long term projects) and support department staff with projects that develop on day-to-day basis. |

| Qualifications: |
Strong communication skills, both written/editing and oral including a strong phone presence.
Ability to work both independently and in a team.
An interest in the communications field shown by both incorporating it as part of college curriculum as well as working experience with college or local professional media.
Inquisitive with a passion to learn
Working knowledge or fluency in a second language such a Spanish, Chinese, or Russian would be an asset. |
