Disaster Health Services Volunteer
Department: Disaster Planning & Response
Location: 520 West 49th Street
New York, NY 10019
Responsibilities: Attends to Red Cross clients with health issues caused or aggravated by disasters including assistance with medications, medical equipment, treatment, and health recovery information. Specific medical responsibility to be determined later in the volunteer’s training.
Qualifications: Must possess a current state license and/or certification (i.e. LPN, RN, NP, MD, PA, EMT or Paramedic

Strong clinical skills

Strong written and oral communications skills required

Strong interpersonal skills required

Must work well under pressure and adverse conditions

Current First Aid and BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
Time Commitment: One 6 – 8 hour shift per month, ability to work an 8 – 12 hour shift in the event of a large-scale disaster.
