Community Outreach Leader of Children’s Programs
Department: Safety & Preparedness
Location: 520 West 49th Street
New York, NY 10019
Responsibilities: The Community Outreach Leader of Children’s Programs delivers non-certification presentations to school-age children at community organizations and schools to teach health and safety information including: how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies, water safety, hygiene, and basic first aid.
Conducts at least one presentation in the community per month

Provides necessary reporting information on presentations
ttends health and street fairs to promote community education programs
Continues training and education on a regular basis to keep presentation skills and knowledge base current
Attends relevant meetings
Qualifications: Experience working with children/young adults
Public speaking and communication skills preferred
Ability to operate audio visual equipment. Training provided if necessary.
Flexibility in schedule
Punctuality
Training: Volunteer Orientation (2 hours)
Community Outreach Leader Training (3 hours)
Mentoring (minimum of 3 hours) and training as necessary provided by the department
Time Commitment: 10 – 15 hours/week during normal business hours
