Chapter Planning & Support Manager
Reports To: CEO’s of ARC/NENY and ARC/GNY
Location: Albany, NY
Category: Full-Time
Primary Function: Working within a shared (50/50) role of planning and support for the Red Cross Northeastern and Metro New York Regions - provides broad based, on-site and distance guidance, capacity-building, regional planning, support, training, education, coordination and information to the chapters within the two Regional groupings. Helps transfers national and regional initiatives to operational success within client chapters. Frequent travel within the two Regions, potentially at short notice and for extended periods of time will be required.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include planning and support work designed to build chapter capacity in the areas of: general administration, board and chapter governance, crisis management, sharing of best practices, identification of measures to reduce costs or improve services, fund development, volunteer/human resource management, disaster readiness and response, finance, preparedness/health and safety and other service delivery activities. Assistance will also be provided to the two regional chapters to help advance regional initiatives and assist in other regional responsibilities. The Manager also will be available to help individual chapters address specific problems or issues. The Manager will provide back up assistance as needed during disasters to the State Relations Disaster Liaison.
Qualifications: 1. Expertise and Judgment: Ability to comprehend complex information across multi-discipline areas of business management. Knowledge of state government, not-for-profit organizations, disaster assistance and emergency management issues preferred. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands. Ability to develop and maintain productive interpersonal relationships. Ability to assess and solve problems within a limited timeframe, frequently under stressful conditions and with limited guidance.

2. Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; advance degree a plus.

3. Experience: 5-7 years of related work experience required; 2-4 Red Cross experience required. Supervisory experience and experience working with volunteers strongly preferred.

Other Requirements:
Day and occasional overnight travel required.

Possess a valid driver’s license in the state in which they reside and must be familiar with New York State traffic laws and regulations.

Have own car which will be used for everyday business travel.

Participate in the DSHR system and be available for assignment nationally, which may require extended periods of travel.
