Red Cross pet first aid classes and pet first aid kits were featured on the Critters page of the Saturday edition (May 12) of the New York Daily News.
Responding to a question from a dog owner about safety tips and first aid for dogs, Stacey Hershman, D.V.M., who writes the What's Up Doc? question and answer column, responded:
"Red Cross offers first aid classes for dogs and cats, teaching pet owners about prevention, treatment and CPR, which could save your pet"s life in case of an emergency….Or you can read the Red Cross Summer Safety Guide for Pets online to learn general pet first aid, car safety and heat stroke prevention. For car rides, safely secure your dog in a crate or seatbelt harness, and they should never ride with their heads out the window.”
Dr. Hershman also provided the links to the Chapter’s web site, directing Daily News readers to additional information about pet first aid classes and pet first aid kits.
